Below you will find the information for the Benefit Concert on December 3, 2013. Roll call for band students is 6:30 PM. The groups performing at the concert is the orchestra and concert band. Parents and Students,
This will be the last installment of marching band updates for the 2013 season. As the season is now complete, I want to thank everyone. (Note: I apologize for the length of this post in advance.) First, thank you to all the volunteers who gave up countless hours to make sure the equipment for the marching band was loaded and unloaded, made it to the competition site, was properly placed on the field, was always there for emergencies in equipment malfunctions, rode the buses with students, chaperoned in the stands, tended to the minor injuries, helped serve food, etc. The list is endless, but the effort was a very important role in the success the marching band had this season. Next, thank you to all the parents for running your students to all the events and for your continued support throughout the season. I know you logged many miles on your cars and may have even lost your voice yelling for your children and singing along to our performance, but your support is greatly appreciated. It was nice to have a nice Governor Mifflin cheering section at every event we participated in this season. It makes performing more enjoyable for all the band members when it is done in front of a friendly crowd. Last, I would like to thank the members of the 2013 marching band. Your efforts given throughout the season have led to major improvements as an ensemble. Your improvements also have lead Governor Mifflin marching band to new levels in many ways. Throughout the season there were many highs and lows, but you should be proud of the season and the new heights the program has reached. Your hard work has allowed the program continued growth, set the bar higher for next year’s ensemble, and continued the program on the path of excellence. Hopefully you have learned more about both the visual and music aspects of marching band and are proud of your personal and of the ensemble’s accomplishments. I also hope that you have not only learned about marching band, but developed and improved important life lessons and skills that will continue to be part of your life and serves as a foundation to allow you to become the best young men and women you can possibly be, regardless of where the future leads each of you. Seniors, hopefully your high school marching band years are the start of your excellence in your educations and careers and you look back with many fond memories and lessons that will carry you on to great heights in your life. You are all great individuals and I know your lives will be filled with many great accomplishments and achievements, and I hope you each find happiness. As I look back on this season, I too have learned a lot in many aspects of this activity. Every rehearsal and performance was a new learning experience for me, whether it was a great success or areas that need improvement, I have learned something each time we met as a group. In my six years of doing this activity, I continue to learn a lot throughout the season, and this year is no exception. My hope is that this year has been a learning experience in various ways for everyone involved in the Governor Mifflin marching band program, just as it has been for me. Again, thank you for a great season and though this is not the end of our creating great music and putting on great performances as we have indoor and jazz band seasons right around the corner, yesterday was the last time that the 2013 Governor Mifflin Marching Mustangs will be together. Please be proud of a great year and hopefully you will remember it fondly the more we distance ourselves from the season. Hopefully you have had a Sunday filled with a little relaxation and recuperation. Thank you again to everyone making this year a success! Thanks, Mr. Deininger Parents and Students,
